Dancing in the tide

Built in 1989, Doubling Point Light is located on the lower Kennebec River, at a point where the normally south-flowing river makes a sharp turn to the east. Its position places it amid treacherous currents above a shallow and rocky promontory.

Twice a day, the water around the lighthouse dances, churned by the changing tides.
